Pramod Kumar’s genius is visible through his perfect craftsmanship and drawing skills, as well as his handling of colors. The artist has tremendous restraint and has learnt to anticipate and influence the capricious nature of water rather than control or dominate it. The play of chiaroscuro in the works adds an essence of allegory that gradually builds. The animals, boats and other elements make an interesting combination with the space.
Born in Pandul, Bihar in 1955, Kumar did his Diploma in Painting at the College of Arts Patna (1976) and Master in Fine Arts at Benaras Hindu University, Varanasi (1979). After teaching in Patna, Bihar for almost 20 years he moved to Mumbai in 1998 where he currently lives.
